COTTAGE DESCRIPTION
A lovely three-bedroomed family cottage (named after the bird heard calling here) set in a spacious indigenous garden with a private wood-fired hot tub and magnificent mountain views. The Hot Tub is filled with fresh mountain water and heated using wood from our on-site sustainable wood-lot, to provide you with the most relaxing, fun and holistic, restorative experience for both mind and body. The garden has a braai stand, outdoor seating, plenty of space for children to play and parking right next to the cottage. The main bedroom has a double bed with en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms have mountain views. The third room has a desk and storage area. Bath and hot tub/swimming towels are provided. The fully equipped kitchen has a stove, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, pots, crockery and cutlery. This cosy cottage is well suited to the Drakensberg winters with a wood-burning fireplace in the open plan lounge / kitchen area. There is a dining table indoors. The cottage is serviced daily at no extra charge. Solar panels on the property ensure an uninterrupted power supply. All guest comforts are taken care of by providing tea, coffee, books, games, magazines, wine glasses, wood for the indoor fireplace, hair dryer, spices, and fresh farm milk from our Jersey cows. The onsite craft shop sells a wide variety of good books for adults and children. If you would prefer to treat yourself to a real holiday, the on-site restaurant offers wholesome meals including breakfast, lunch and a 3-course set menu for dinner. No pets are allowed as our land borders the Drakensberg Mountains World Heritage Site.

Lodge Swimming Pool Access
Sun loungers at the pool (100 metres from the cottage) enable you to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains that will take your breath away.
Mountain Hiking
Hiking trails (including the famous Giant's Cup Trail) into the bordering Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site begin on the property. We supply maps, entry permits and route descriptions.
Essential Toiletries Provided
Find shower gel, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner in both bathrooms.
Wood-fired Hot Tub
Relax in the Hot Tub and feel your stress melt away. Book in advance at Reception. The fire needs a few hours to heat the mountain spring water so it can be ready by 1 pm.

Convenient parking next to your cottage.

SUMMER
SEASONS IN THE DRAKENSBERG
WINTER
Winter (June to Aug) is the dry season with blue skies during the day and clear, cold nights. Snowfalls on the high peaks are likely.
Spring (Sep to Nov) is variable, ranging from hot to cold, rainy to clear, still to windy.
Summer (Dec to Feb) is the rainy season with hot, sunny mornings and thunderstorms in the afternoons.
Autumn (Mar to May) is variable, ranging from hot to cold, rainy to clear.
BOOKING GUIDE
Please book the following in advance with Reception when you make your reservation at Sani Lodge:
* Dinner on the day of your arrival. Our restaurant serves a 3-course dinner at 18:30.
* Breakfast which is available from 07:30 to 10 am.
* The day and time you wish to use your Hot Tub. It takes 3 to 4 hours to heat up depending on the time of year. 2 pm is the earliest time it can be ready.
* Tours up Sani Pass into Lesotho and guided hikes to rock art and Hodgson’s Peaks in Lesotho are on offer with our tour company. Passports are necessary for the Lesotho tour.
* If you are doing the Giant’s Cup Trail Hike, we offer personalised mugs with your name, the text ‘I did the Giant’s Cup Trail’, and a sketch of the mountains. The mugs are made on-site by our Ceramicist, Simone.
ARRIVAL GUIDE
* Please call us on 0839873071 to advise your expected time of arrival.
* Check in to reception to fetch your keys from 2 pm to 7 pm. If you are arriving after 7 pm, we shall leave a map on the reception for you to find your unit. It will be left open with the key in the door.
 * Free WIFI is available at the restaurant and bar during opening hours only. There is no WIFI in the cottage.
* There is no TV in the cottage. The Conference Venue shows live DSTV Supersport matches from time to time.
* The property has solar panels to generate electricity whilst the sun is shining and basic battery storage.
