ROOM DESCRIPTION

This cosy cottage receives north-facing sunshine in winter and has a wood-burning fireplace in the open plan lounge / dining room area. If you would prefer a cottage with two bathrooms, mountain views and a private Hot Tub, please check out Honeyguide and Aloe cottages. Ntshitshi cottage is located close to Hoopoe and Francolin rondavels. The cottage is named after the indigenous trees growing near it and the small summer garden has indigenous plants to attract birds and butterflies. It sleeps 3 - 6 people in three bedrooms; the main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has twin beds. The third bedroom is accessible only by a private entrance from the porch. There is one bathroom with a shower, toilet and handbasin. All beds have feather duvets and electric blankets. Bath towels are provided. Swimming towels are available from the Lodge reception. The fully equipped kitchen has a stove, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, pots, crockery, and cutlery. All guest comforts are taken care of by providing tea, a coffee machine, filter coffee, books, games, magazines, wine glasses, wood for the indoor fireplace, a hair dryer, spices, and toiletries. A jug of fresh farm milk from our hand-milked Jersey cows, is in the fridge to make you feel at home right away. A basic daily service is free of charge. Solar panels on the property ensure an uninterrupted power supply. There is a braai stand and outdoor seating in the forest nearby. NOTE: This cottage may be booked for a minimum of 3 people. If you would prefer to treat yourself to a real holiday, the on-site restaurant offers wholesome meals including breakfast, lunch and a 3 course set menu for dinner. Pets are not allowed as our land borders the Drakensberg Mountains World Heritage Site.

Hiking trails (including the famous Giant's Cup Trail) into the bordering Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site begin on the property. We supply maps, entry permits and route descriptions

WINTER

Winter (June to Aug) is the dry season with blue skies during the day and clear, cold nights. Snowfalls on the high peaks are likely.

Spring (Sep to Nov) is variable, ranging from hot to cold, rainy to clear, still to windy.

Summer (Dec to Feb) is the rainy season with hot, sunny mornings and thunderstorms in the afternoons.

Autumn (Mar to May) is variable, ranging from hot to cold, rainy to clear.

ARRIVAL GUIDE

Please book the following in advance with Reception when you make your reservation at Sani Lodge:

* Dinner on the day of your arrival. Our restaurant serves a 3-course dinner at 18:30.
* Breakfast which is available from 07:30 to 10 am.
* Tours up Sani Pass into Lesotho and guided hikes to rock art and Hodgson’s Peaks in Lesotho are on offer with our tour company. Passports are necessary for the Lesotho tour.
* If you are doing the Giant’s Cup Trail Hike, we offer personalised mugs with your name, the text ‘I did the Giant’s Cup Trail’, and a sketch of the mountains. The mugs are made on-site by our Ceramicist, Simone.

 

* Please call us on 0839873071 to advise your expected time of arrival.
* Check in to reception to fetch your keys from 2 pm to 7 pm. If you are arriving after 7 pm, we shall leave a map on the reception for you to find your unit. It will be left open with the key in the door.
* Free WIFI is available at the restaurant and bar during opening hours only. There is no WIFI in the unit.
* There is no TV in the unit. The Conference Venue shows live DSTV Supersport matches from time to time.
* The property has solar panels to generate electricity whilst the sun is shining and basic battery storage.
