Overview

The Molumong Pony Trekking 2 Day Tour offers an authentic introduction to the
Lesotho highlands. Guests travel up the iconic Sani Pass by 4×4 before setting
off on horseback with Basotho ponies, riding between remote mountain villages
and staying overnight in a traditional village homestead.

Day 1 – Sani Pass & Village Ride

• 09:00 meet at Sani Lodge & Cottages for briefing and departure
• 4×4 ascent of Sani Pass with scenic stops and commentary
• Traditional Basotho vegetarian lunch in Sekiring village
• Drive over Black Mountain Pass (approx. 3,240 m above sea level)
• Meet Basotho ponies and local guides
• 2–3 hour pony ride to the overnight village
• Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional village homestead

Day 2 – Return Ride & Sani Lodge

• Breakfast in the village
• Morning pony ride back via a different scenic route
• Lunch with the host family
• 4×4 return down Sani Pass
• Late afternoon arrival back at Sani Lodge & Cottages

Accommodation Notes

Accommodation is in traditional Basotho village homes. Facilities are basic,
with no electricity or running water. Long-drop toilets are used and water is
provided in basins for washing.
