COVID Protocols – Oct 2021

For your peace of mind, Sani Lodge has signed the Covid-19 Protocols Pledge for the Travel and Tourism Industry. This means that we are compliant with the Travel and Tourism Industry Standard Protocols for Covid-19 operations as issued by the Tourism and Business Council of South Africa and Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.

ARRIVAL

Check-in time is from 3pm to 7pm.

  1. Hand sanitizer with spray sanitizer provided at check in. Sanitiser is also provided at the shop, restaurant, entrance into the communal kitchen/common room, in the rondavels and self-catering cottages.

  2. Guest temperature to be taken with an infrared thermometer on arrival at reception. In the event of a guest presenting with Covid-19 symptoms, standard procedures are in place.

  3. Completion of a guest medical form for each guest in the group and not just the representative. 

DURING YOUR STAY

  1. Physical distancing/spacing and queues. Please keep a distance of 2 metres from staff and other guests at all times. Only one person permitted in the Lodge office at a time.
  2. Use of face masks. It is a legal requirement for all guests to wear a face mask at all times during their stay and includes all public areas. Any person not complying will be asked to leave the premises.
  3. The lodge office is not open 14 hours a day as it was pre-Covid. It will be opened on your arrival and thereafter for issuing of hiking maps and permits, information and the laundry service. Wonderful Hiking trails into the Drakensberg Park begin here. We act on behalf of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife as an entry point for our guests.
  4. Whilst we are committed to providing you with the best quality service, kindly limit contact with staff by communicating your queries or requests via mobile phone by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to 0839873071.
  5. Food service options. Please reserve breakfast the night before and dinner the day before. The on-site restaurant (the Giants Cup Café) is open for breakfast, lunches, Cappuccino and cake with limited hours owing to staff restrictions. Breakfast will no longer be a buffet and all meals will be plated. A 3-course dinner R165pp will be plated and served at 6.30pm in the restaurant. Rest assured that we aim to ensure that we maintain food safety and hygiene standards, food quality,  and the general guest experience. We have a lovely outdoor area where you can sit to eat and drink during the day when the weather is warm.
    The Shop at the Giants Cup sells handcrafts, a wide variety of dairy produce from our own cows, including our own Gouda cheese, fresh milk, cream, butter, cream cheese, ice cream, feta, yoghurt,& also braai wood and basic groceries.
  6. The public spaces of the communal Lodge kitchens and common room are strictly off limits to guests other than those staying in standard rooms, rondavels or dormitories, and face masks must be worn at all times. The swimming pool and deck may be used by one group at a time.
  7. No smoking in any of the rooms or public areas. A fine of R500 will be enforced.
  8. Wi-Fi is only available at the restaurant during opening hours.
  9. Check out time is strictly 9am in accordance with Covid protocols which state a room must be well ventilated before staff may enter to deep clean. Room ventilation of a minimum of 6 hours is necessary before occupancy by the next guest.

DEPARTURE

By 9 am please.

  2. Please do not leave any leftover cooked food for staff as they cannot consume it under the Covid-19 protocol.

  • Motorbiking, mountain biking, trail running up Sani Pass.

  • Free satellite WIFI at the restaurant 100 metres from the Lodge.

  • Restaurant serving all meals (please book breakfast and dinner in advance).

  • Shop selling our farm dairy produce; cheese, ice-cream, yoghurt, cream cheese, feta, halloumi, butter, fresh milk.

  • Craft shop; support local South African crafts and our very own ceramics made on site.

  • Art gallery – paintings by Simone Suchet.

  • Yoga class from 8am to 9. Please book in advance.

  • Massage treatments. Please book in advance.

  • Self – guided hikes in the Drakensberg Park starting right from your room door.

  • Nature trail on site for the whole family.

  • Games room; table tennis, darts, board games.

  • Swimming pool.

  • Trail running.

  • Guided hike to see rock art.

  • Specialised Birding tours.

  • Watching our cows being milked at 8am or 3pm.

  • Horse riding.

  • Guest laundry service.
