ROOM DESCRIPTION

This round dwelling is traditionally built in the African style, using poles, clay and thatch grass. Breakfast is included in the price. These natural materials create a structure that is well-insulated against summer heat and winter cold. There is a table with outdoor seating. If you are prefer a mountain view and your own private wood-fired Hot Tub, we suggest you look at booking Woodpecker or Kingfisher. You may be lucky enough to hear the chirruping of the Francolin birds after which this rondavel has been named. There is a double bed with an electric blanket, a feather duvet and warm blankets. Bath towels are provided. Swimming towels are available from the Lodge reception. A tray with a kettle and filter coffee makes you feel at home right away. We provide creamy farm milk from our own herd of Jersey cows. The unit is serviced daily at no extra charge. The central shared guest kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, pots, crockery, and cutlery. The shared guest lounge is well suited to the Drakensberg winters with a wood-burning fireplace in the open plan lounge / dining room area. There is a central guest braai boma area. Solar panels on the property ensure an uninterrupted power supply. If you would prefer to treat yourself to a real holiday, the on-site restaurant offers wholesome meals including breakfast, lunch and a 3-course set menu for dinner. No pets allowed as our land borders the Drakensberg Mountains World Heritage Site.
